CONTACT LENS PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS The majority of patients who wear contact lenses do so for the correction of refractive error. In some cases they are used to protect the cornea, cover a disfigured eye or for other reasons. The three main requirements with contact lens wear are: 1. Correct the patient’s vision. (see well) 2. Does not cause any harm. (look well) 3. Comfort. (feel well) There are many different ways these criteria can be achieved and different clinicans may use different types of contact lenses or different ways to fit a given lens type. The important thing is that the three above criteria are met.
